Texas Tech had a strong opening day at the NCAA West Prelims advancing three athletes to nationals and three to the quarterfinal round.

The Texas Tech track and field team begins its NCAA postseason journey Thursday as the No. 5 Red Raiders and No. 15 Lady Raiders open competition at the NCAA West Preliminaries at John McDonnell Field in Arkansas.
